Geoffrey Rush will become the painter Alberto Giacometti in Final Portrait by Stanley Tucci

Geoffrey Rush will play the Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti in the film written and directed by Stanley Tucci, Final Portrait, based on the book by James Lord 'A Giacometti Portrait'. The Hanway will present the project to international buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin. The president of Hanway Thorsten Schumacher said:


"This is an incredibly fascinating story of two opposites, the odd couple of their time. Stanley Tucci wrote a screenplay with wonderful nuance ".


Set in Paris in 1964, the film tells the story of how he met Giacometti American journalist James Lord and asked him to be his model for a portrait. Given that the painter had promised to Lord that he would complete the work in a couple of days in his studio, the man had willingly accepted, the days are soon turned into weeks. While Giacometti hard to capture the essence of Lord, the model realizes that his life has been hijacked by this genius unpredictable.

Il film verrà prodotto da Gail Egan della Potboiler Productions e dall’Ilan Girard, da Fred Hogg e dalla Olive Productions.


Il Festival di Berlino comincerà il 5 febbraio.
